Books I Wish I Read Before the End of 2012

By the end of the year, every avid reader has a list of books they wish they would have gotten to before the year ends.  I know I do.  Don't get me wrong, I did read quite a few books that have been collecting dust on my shelves, but a majority of my reading time did go to newer releases.  Here are the books I wish I would have read and sincerely hope I get a chance to before the end of next year.

-Divergent by Veronica Roth
-City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
-The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I know what you're going to say, guys...Don't be too disappointed in me.
*hangs head in shame*

-The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa
-The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa
-Firelight by Sophie Jordan

I did read The Iron King this year, so I'd love to continue the series.

-Across the Universe by Beth Revis
-Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini
-Paper Towns by John Green

Can you believe I've never read a John Green book?  I bought this one back in 2010...Oops.

And the 2012 releases I wish I would have gotten to...

-Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
-The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
-Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

All of these titles have been added to my 2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge, along with 11 others.  Check out which books I plan to be reading next year on my Challenges page.

  2. I'm with you on Divergent and Across the Universe, as well as this year's Shadow and Bone! Definitely hoping to get to those soon. As for Paper Towns, I recommend it. I enjoyed it more than his first big hit, Looking for Alaska. His newest, The Fault in Ours Stars, is on my "Wish I'd Read this Year" list!

  3. A lot of those on your list are on mine too. They are sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. I think I am going to take a stand and read Divergent before February.

  4. Oh man!! I can't believe you haven't read any of these! Divergent, Iron Fey, any John Green book (Looking for Alaska is my favorite by him thus far), Mortal Instruments, Shadow & Bone, The Immortal rules, THE HUNGER GAMES! All awesome books! I wasn't a huge fan of Across the universe.
I have a bunch I hope to get to next year that have been on my shelf a LONG time.

    Enjoy! :)

  5. I need to read some of those on that list, too.
The ones I have read are City of Bones (read it back in '09 --> feels old), Hunger Games (read it in '11), & Across the Universe (read it this past year).

  6. I also recently bought Divergent but I don't think I'll get to it before the end of the year... and I really want to read Born Wicked and Shadow and Bone! The Iron Queen is already on my shelf. The Immortal Rules was awesome!!
I've never read a John Green book. I know everyone thinks he's awesome, but somehow the book descriptions just never sounded all that interesting to me ^^' Same for Across the Universe, though I might give in on that one next year. Maybe.
What I hope I'll get to this year is Venom by Fiona Paul, Ember by Jessica Sorensen, and maybe Masquerade by Cambria Hebert. There are soooo many more though! It's just impossible to keep up with everything :(
Good luck with your reading goals! But don't forget to have fun, too ;)

  7. I've only read The Hunger Games out of all of these. But I have City Of Bones on my shelf as well. I haven't touched a John Greene book yet either. Guess we should get on that?

  8. I've a boxed set of the Hunger Games and most of The Immortal Instruments Series, all gotten via contests (the only way I can afford popular books nowadays). I've yet to read them since I'm going through my books by series and currently reading all my Discworld novels.

  9. *jaw drops* There are people left who haven't read The Hunger Games yet! Oh you rare, extinct creature!

I definitely need to get to Shadow and Bone, it's rotting on my bookshelf. *sigh*

  10. *gives Chey an enormous hug* I'm SO happy I'm not the only one who hasn't read The Hunger Games and John Green's books yet! I loved Divergent, though. I think you'll enjoy it :)
