Top Ten Tuesday- Childhood Favorites

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

This week we're listing the top ten favorite books from our childhood.

For some reason, most of the books on my list are the ones I remember from kindergarten, but I still get excited when I see them in the stores.

1. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

3. Stellaluna by Janell Cannon

4. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr.
                                                    and John Archambault

5. Corduroy by Don Freeman

6. Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi
(Pretty sure someone bought it for my mom and I ended up taking it to share the humor with my best friend.)

7. The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

8. The Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park

9. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

10. Holes by Louis Sachar
My 5th grade teacher read this book to us every day and even gave each of us our own copies.  It's one of my fondest memories of that year.

Thanks for stopping by!  What books do you have on your top ten?

P.S. Only 10 more days to enter my giveaway for your book of choice from The Book Depository!  The link is in the sidebar, if you're interested!  :)

Follow Friday #5

Follow Friday is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

Q: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

Hmm, this is a little difficult for me to answer.  I don't usually have many pet peeves when it comes to the books I read.

I can say that I definitely don't enjoy when an author drags on a series.  No matter how beloved the books are, all things should come to an end.

I also hate when I can't connect to the characters I'm reading about because I barely know anything about them.  Ugh, and I despise typos just because I end up spending an unnecessary amount of time staring at them, as if I could magically change the ink on the page.

Unlike some others, personally, I don't see anything wrong with love triangles and/or falling in love instantly.  I'm a hopeless romantic and I just eat that stuff up.  Sure, it may not happen often in reality, but I'm sure it happens from time to time.

What are your bookish pet peeves?

(If you're visiting my blog for the first time, just to let you know, I have a giveaway for your choice of book $10 or less from The Book Depository- which means it's international!  Click here to read the rules and enter.  Ends December 16th.)

Christmas Wishlist

It is officially the beginning of December!  I can't believe how fast this year has passed already.  Only one more month and it'll be 2012!  (Good thing or bad?  You decide!)

I have to say that Christmas is probably my favorite holiday.  I'm definitely not looking forward to all the snow and freezing cold temperatures, but I am looking forward to a number of things, which include:

-hot chocolate
-baking cookies
-warm blankets
-decorating the tree
-Christmas music
-Christmas movies
-cuddling with pets
-spending time with my family

I decided to make a small Christmas wishlist for Santa like I used to as a child, just a few short years ago (or so it seems...)

First on the list, a super cute pair of boots!
How can I live in Wisconsin and not own a pair of winter boots?  Beats me!  I'd really love a cute pair of moccasins/ faux fur ones like these.

My boyfriend wanted to buy them for me but as soon as he tried to, they were out of my size.  Boo!  Santa, do you think your elves can make these in a size 11 and send them my way?

Ahh!  Look how adorable this Totoro Kindle cover is!  I was looking for a random Kindle cover for this list but I've fallen in love.

Look at this nice bookcase from Ikea!
I'm running out of places to keep my beloved books!  This narrow bookshelf is the perfect size for my tiny, cluttered room.  I prefer black but that one's $20 more!  I'll just paint it if necessary.

Of course, who would I be if I didn't ask Santa for some books?
(P.S. I already know Santa won't bring me any of these, but it's worth a try!)

-The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler
-Sisters Red and Sweetly by Jackson Pearce
-Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
-Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey
-Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
-Shut Out by Kody Keplinger
-Fateful by Claudia Grey
-The Iron King and The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

Alright, that concludes my list!  There's really nothing I need this year (that I can think of), so I had a difficult time choosing what to put in this post.  Lol!  Who knows, maybe I'll add a little more to it throughout the month and send it to people who ask me what I'd like.  :P

What about you guys?  What items are on your wishlists?  Or better yet, what gifts do you plan on giving?  Tell me about your plans for the holidays!
I'd love to hear from you.  :)

Waiting on Wednesday #4

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by, Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases we can't wait to get our hands on!

Title: The Statistical Probability of Love
             at First Sight
Author: Jennifer E. Smith
Release Date: January 2nd, 2012
Publisher: Poppy

Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18B. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it

Eeee!  Reading a well written romantic book always seems to feel like falling in love for the first time.  I've always had a big heart and even since I was around the age of three, I've known how to appreciate an attractive boy.

Just look at the title of that book!  How can I not fall in love with it already?

What book are you waiting for this wonderful Wednesday?
