If you've even been to my blog before, you might know that Lauren Oliver is one of my absolute favorite authors. Her writing is stunning and lyrical, and her stories are some of the most unique I've read. There's just something about her work that always stands out to me. Before I Fall, her debut novel, was the first I'd read, followed by the Delirium series, which I only grew to love more as the series progressed. Many of her characters and their stories are incredibly memorable, therefore I felt as though I had to share how much I was anticipating her next release, Panic.
Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.
Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.
Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn't know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.
For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most.
Everything about this book sounds exciting, and I can't wait to find out more!
Unfortunately, it releases in the spring of 2014, so we have a while to wait...

For those of you (like me) who can't stand the torture of being patient, you can watch the videos below, which feature Lauren reading the first few chapters of Panic!
What do you guys think? Are you super excited as well?
Which Lauren Oliver book is your favorite? Mine is probably a toss up between Pandemonium and Requiem!
Oooh! This sounds AMAZING. I am in the middle of reading Requiem right now, but I really loved Pandemonium. Lauren Oliver is an awesome writer. I will read everything she writes! :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for this one! It looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI was really disappointed overall with the end of Delirium series, which made me sad. But then I read Before I Fall and it was just so amazing, she made it all up. This one looks really interesting, I'm excited to see it!
ReplyDeleteI'm also excited for this book and I hope this book/series will have a great ending. The Delirium's ending is real bad! :D

I'm actually reading this one right now and it's awesome so far. It's definitely a switch from the Delirium series but it's great. =)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really fun and intense read. Great pick!
